Every year, the Circuit selects a charity to support. The current charity is Calderwood House, a new innovative solution to homelessness and unemployment in West Cumbria.
Some of those supported in recent years are:
North Lakes Food Bank - some churches in the circuit are collection points for the Food Bank
Bible Society - Search the Bible, see how the Bible is changing lives and find out about the Bible
Fresh Expressions - Fresh Expressions is a Church of England and Methodist Church initiative encouraging people hoping to establish 'new or different forms of church for our changing culture'.
Rejesus - a site that explores the life, character, teachings and followers of Jesus. It also looks at how he has been quoted and misquoted, filmed and written about, worshiped and argued over.
C2C - the Coast to Coast cycleway from Whitehaven to Sunderland
Wainwright's Coast to coast walk to Robin Hood’s Bay
Cumbria District website - for information and news about Methodist activities in the rest of Cumbria (lots of links).
The Methodist Church of Great Britain - The Methodist Church is one of the largest Christian churches in Great Britain, with nearly 300,000 members and regular contact with over 800,000 people. It has around 5,800 churches in Great Britain, and also maintains links with other Methodist churches totalling a worldwide membership of 70 million. Its activities, both alone and with ecumenical and secular partners, are based on four aims known as Our Calling:
- To increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love
- To help people to grow and learn as Christians through mutual support and care
- To be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice
- To make more followers of Jesus Christ.
